Beth Ann Margolis Rupp

Executive Director

Beth brings expertise from early childhood education to high school through university in teaching and administration. WIth over 40 years of educational leadership Beth’s shares her focus on the interaction of classroom and community based learning for applied democracy and citizenship.

Beth was the founding director of Satell Fellowship and Institute for Service Learning at Gratz College. Bringing a Jewish lens to pursuing justice, equity in community life is Beth’s passion. She has 4 sons and lives in Chestnut Hill.  She is a graduate of Temple University with Bachelor’s Degree in education, and  Masters in Education Administration from Wheelock College.

Leah Wright

Program Director

Leah Wright, an alumni of Folkshul, is a certified teacher of 11 years. Her area of expertise ranges from early childhood education to elementary and high school. She is a graduate of Temple University with both a Bachelor’s Degree and a Masters in Education. During the week, Leah teaches environmental science to grades K-8 at a charter school in Philadelphia and on the weekends she’s a parent to a Folkshul 6th grader.
 

Leah credits Folkshul with helping her develop a deep understanding of Humanistic Judaism and a love of it.  Her daughter is continuing the tradition as a second generation student and loves going to Folkshul!

Rebecca Schwartz

Community Engagement & Curriculum Specialist

Rebecca is a musician, educator, and instructional leader. She holds a Master of Arts in Music Education and a professional teaching license for PK-12 music. She is a public school music teacher as well as an experienced instructional leader, and she has worked at the school level to develop and lead teacher professional learning cycles, school-wide intervisitation processes, new teacher training sessions, and parent and family workshops. Rebecca has planned and coordinated arts and enrichment programming for hundreds of students and families. She has worked in the world of Secular Humanistic Judaism for over a decade, including as a songleader and Sunday school teacher, and has found her Jewish home in Philly at Folkshul!
